Very nice! Someone with a sharp set of chisels and even sharper ability did some very precise inletting. Where did you find that slab of Maple?!? That has the most amount of curl/ quilting/ figure I've ever seen.

Just for the weight savings and less nose heavy feel, I would go that route. I would also lean towards some red tint in the finish since the beech wood as  little to no figure .
