i am picking up a used BPS rifled deer hunter in 20 gauge. i understand the rifling is 1 in 28 twist. is thist fast or slow? will this shoot the faster saboted slugs or the slower ones? by faster i mean winchester partition, remington copper solids hornady sst or slower ones like lightfields? any help is appreciated

I would think your BPS would shoot all types of slugs and saboted rounds. Experimentation is the only way to determine what your gun "likes".

testing slugs

i agree with u razorback. i was just trying to eliminate some headaches. for instance, a mossberg 500 rifled barrel has a slower twist than a remington 870 barrel. the slower twist does not shoot the faster slugs as well as the other . just looking to make $15+ per box mistakes as little as possible. thanks man i appreciate it

The 1/28 twist has become the new "STANDARD" for the factory saboted 20 gauge slugs made today. Some of the older slug guns are 1/34 twist and are ammo selective.

Try the Remington "Accu-tip" first, then the Federal 3 inch Barnes with the Blue tip. Try Hornadys SST last.

I suspect you won't go past needing anything but the Remington Accu-tip.
