I'm looking for a new muzzleloader and I'm going to keep my loyalty to Knight Rifles. i want your opinions on the Knight Rolling Block. I like the looks and feel of this model andI have a line on a new one with the walnut stock and blued barrel.

Rolling block has two potential problems that I am aware of. It will not handle BH209 powder consistently and the action sometimes has problems getting everything working correctly. I have one that I bought but have not even shot yet as I have other rifles that are commanding all my time at present. There were early problems with lack of firing due to primer hit problems.

I picked up a newer version of the Knight Vision:

It comes with the new breech plug and is virtually blowback free. I got this one from Sportsman Guide and paid $179. I really love it for an inline. ;)

The Knight Disc Extreme was one of the best muzzle loaders ever made. If you can find one of these you will do well to buy it.

I second the issue with the primers not firing. I bought one last fall and could not get the the hammer to release since the primer seemed to not fit correctly. I sent back the trigger assembly thinking that was the issue and they replaced it but that did not fix the problem. Next I sent back the breek plug after comparing it to one in a local store. That fixed the issue. It seems the plug I had was not tapped deep enough to allow the primer to seat completely. Otherwise it's been a great gun. I couldn't pass it up for 150 in Cabelas bargain cave.

Thanks to all who have responded, I guess I'll pass on this one. Bass Pro had it for $400 Ok then what are your opinions on the KP1 will it fire Blackhorn? Thoughts problems ect.

$400 is too much for a blue Rolling Block. I paid less than that for my stainless one. One additional note; The stock on the KRB is set up for scopes and the iron sights are nearly impossible to get a good picture on as the comb is too high.

I shouldered the gun a few weeks ago the wood stock virtually has not raise in the comb, but after the thoughts on here and reading the old topic I have decided to go another route. I'm looking into a Long Range Hunter which is option number one. I found one that is NIB and never been fired but the guy wants $600 for it. Option two is a KP1 which is used but the guy only wants $450.

Natchez shooting supply's new closeout flyer has the .50 extreme, s.s. composite listed for 318$. It's on the right hand side of the home page. It's on page 12/13 of the flyer.

Hornet, keep searching. I just found a brand new in the box laminate thumbhole LRH with hard case and scope for $499. They were selling for $459 without case and scope. They may have some left Here's the info.
The name of the store is VF Sports in Port Huron, Michigan. Their number is 810-985-7733.
Good luck.

Yeah thanks I got that info off of another thread I started on the LRH. I'm going to call tomarrow. Any chance your buddy would want to sell his thumbhole stock cheap or trade. I saw your add in the classiifeds, that would be if I get one.

Hornet, he just got the gun 4 days ago and just bought the non-thumbhole today so it will probably be a week before he gets it. He wants to see which stock feels better and he will more than likely sell off the other one. It will probably be a little while but I will keep you posted. If/when he lets one go you will get first choice at it.

Give Natchez a call to see if they can give you a better deal. $300 or less is a good price IMO if you really want it. They gave me a deal on an MK-85 a few years back.

VF Sports out of Long Range Hunters. I just called and spoke to Tim, he told me he was all out.
They had 7 a couple weeks ago. My friend Vance thought he got the last one. Oh well it was worth a shot. If I were you I would google "Knight Long Range Hunter" That was how I found the ones at VF sports.
Good luck, I'll keep an eye out for you.
