Found one of these new on the web for $175.00 at Southern Ohio Arms. Im assuming its a Investarms. Looks like the same gun as the Cabelas Sporterized Hawken. 21 inch barrel, chromed lined. 1:21 inch twist. Anyone have one they like? Will these shoot Sabots and conicals alright?

That 1:24 twist ought to shoot both sabots and conicals well. I suspect it would do great with 300 grain bullets in sabots, and might be just the thing for 200 grain .40 caliber bullets in 50/40 sabots.

I have two - one in 1:48, one in 1:24. They both shoot conicals and sabots very well. The stock sights are junk, though. (short sight radius, coarse adjustments) I recommend a nice peep, like the Lyman SML57. Usually shoot 240 - 250 gr. XTP's over 100 gr. 777, and Hornady Great Plains 385gr. over 85 gr. 777. I use musket caps on both, mostly 'cause the darn little ones are just hard for me to handle.

WOW that was a great find. You should have a good sabot and conical shooter there.

WOW

That gun at Cabelas was high on my list since i dont have a more traditional styled rifle and love carbines. Ive really wanted a fast twist 54 also.

Could you post the exact link please

Thank you

they are sold out!
Guess they have not updated the website. It says "In Stock". Im always a day late and a dollar short.

So was I. I had every intention of buying one. I even called and double checked. They are an investarms so they are a Cabela's carbine hawkins with the chrome lined barrel.

Oh well, Cables has theirs on sale too but its still more than double that price.

IMO that is one very nice looking carbine, i would have even taken a 50 instead for that price.

I guess i will just keep looking for a Denali to cut down.

Thank you though.
