I painted a new Knight rifle stock with my daughter a couple weeks ago in green with webbing and I liked the way it turned out, so I did one for myself in tan and black.

Here's before...

and after...

I liked it as all black but it will be more useful now, it was just too dark for the mainly open sage terrain that I hunt most often. What's nice is I still have both stocks so I still have the all black option...at least until I get the painting urge again :)

looks great!! How did you get that marble look to it? Put any clear coat on it to keep it from flaking off?

Thanks Guys.
FG, I did get a bit of a marble pattern on this one...cool that you could see it. I just tried a different hand movement while spraying the webbing paint this time, which gave me alternating light and heavy areas.
And yes, I did spray multiple coats of matte clear finish on it before removing the checkering panels and a couple more after to seal in the edges of the stock between the painted and non-painted areas real well. The clear coat goes on nice and the checkering stayed nice and sharp like nothing was sprayed on it.

GB, If you wouldnt mind, i'd love to know what type of paints you used, especially the webbing paint. After seeing this, im seriously considering doing this to my Accura and a Mtn Stalker.

Any prep to the stock before painting it?

That looks SO NICE, im very tempted to send one of mine to you and gladly pay. Your work looks as nice or better than most of the pros. :yeah:

I have a Disc thumbhole i got cheap that would look SO NICE in that tan with webbing.

:applause: :applause: :applause:

GM54, That sounds interesting to me. I still have a painting closet all set up. I'll send you a PM when I get a moment.

That would be awesome and i am serious.

I believe the thumbhole has less checkering so only the forearm would need masking. Then i might send the barrel off to BlackIce for the final touches.

Tan and black web/marble looks Suweeeeet!!!!

BTW if we do this, im in no hurry on the return. I would rather you took your time and its a extra stock so i wont be left hanging.

VERY VERY NICE GB! 8)

I was thinking along the same lines as GM54-120 also!

I was tempted to do this paint job on my Accura after I saw the results of your first project. This one might have just put me over the edge. Great job and great looking rifle. Like that tan with black webbing

That sounds great GM54.
It does take time to do it right but I think not rushing the paint and allowing it to cure completely just really adds to the durability.
You know it's interesting that you mention Black Ice because that rifle was done by Black Ice about 4 years ago. I had them do all the metal, everything except the trigger assembly and the springs. Lee did a fantastic job, I recommend him for that type of finish, it has worn very well.

Hunter8282, I will include you in a message too, if you'd like.

I am leaving for a long weekend with two kids in tow so it might be a couple of days before I get back to you guys...but let me think this over and figure how it will work best for both of us and what I'll need to cover costs. Sounds like fun to do a couple stocks in a batch and I know you'll be pleased with the results.

Not to hi-jack your thread but..... Here's three rifles that I've painted with Krylon paint with the webbing effect.....Like greatbasin says....It's a simple proceedure with great results.

Greatbasin....I like what you did with the checkering :D
