Anyone have good results in there in-line ML with them. I have been a power belt guy, but Busta convinced me to try the FPB's {still waiting to try them }, but I see Gander Mountain has the maxi hunter 20pack for 13 bucks.Doesn't seem bad for the money... Anyt thought........

Thanks,
Steve

I tried maxi hunters in a lot of rifles and never had any luck with them so I stopped buying them. Now its been a long time since I shot any, but they never were accurate for me. Now maxiball is a different story.

My experience is the same as Cayuga, never could get the Maxie hunter to shoot good out of anything but the regular Maxie ball shot out of most guns when you found the right load. In my experience no other conical has the long range accuracy that the FBP does.

I also have never shot the maxi hunter. It also depends on what you are hunting. Maxihunters are OK for deer, but not for bigger animals (elk/bear). They are designed to expand on smaller animals, and wouldn't hold up for bigger ones.

+2 on the FPBs. I think you will like them.

I've also never had much luck the maxi or maxi hunter bullets. Kind of like power belts, and have stopped buying either. There are way better bullets for an inline.

i wont ever use a maxiball or hunter for hunting again  They dont expand and the deer that i shot, 2 in all, were lost and i barely got the 3rd deer.

If you like conicals, i highly suggest the Thor conical.

They don't expand much but they do penetrate like mad. Even unexpanded we're talking a 1/2 in hole in and out of a deer. If I put a 1/2 in. hole through a deer and can't recover it..I'm thinking I shot it in the wrong spot. I will agree that there are much better killers than Maxi's. However, I like them for states like Idaho and Oregon that require an un-coated all lead conical

directly through the lungs isnt what i'd call bad shot placement. My 3rd deer i shot and barely got ran for over a 1/2 mile on the first shot and then another 1/4mile after the second shot. Just terrible performance. 70gr Pyrodex P and the 240gr maxiball.

A lung shot deer running 3/4 of a mile...that is one studly deer! I'm not judg'n, just say'n. Glad you got 'em.

It gets worse! My dad cut its throat after it was "dead" when we got back to camp, it was standing up in the back of the pickup bed!

And that was after field dressing and removing his ballz!

Just pokin fun.

sbuff,

I personally would stay away from the Maxi's, just too many other better conicals out there that will shoot good and have great terminal performance. Bullshop, No Excuses, White, FPB, and the THOR.

I would also stear clear of the Buffalo Bullet and Hornady Great Plains Conicals.

have to agree with the GP conicals as well. I shot a doe at 20 yards through the shoulder with the 385 HPGP and with 90gr RS the bullet ripped right down the middle and turned into the size of a silver dollar and about as thick as one. It only made it through one shoulder before becoming stuck on the inside of the off shoulder.

If you shoot pure lead, dont go with hollow points.

Bullet failure and knife failure all in the same day...that's rough...at least the truck started.

lol of course it started, it was a 93 dodge d150 with the 360 magnum. Man that sucker had some guts.

First muzzleloader deer i ever took. CVA Blazer .45
