I just got a near mint LK-93 54cal. It has a 22" barrel and the FPJ 209 conversion. Im assuming its a very early model with a max rating of 120gr.

I have no intentions (atm) of going over 100gr of ANY powder based on some other reviews ive read. I will most likely be using T7 or JSG unless someone is SURE BH209 is safe with lower charges.

I also have a bunch of 54cal Maxis, im not sure of the weight and a bunch of MMP purple sabots and Rainier 50cal 300gr plated hollow points. I love these Rainier 300gr HPs for cheap shooting and moderate recoil.

I have a bunch of other heavier bullet/sabot combos but i think i will keep those for my GMB54-120.

Im just going to be using a Williams peep site and no scope at this time.

What loads have you guys used for best accuracy. This one will just be used for very close shooting.

One last question, if its a early model....is it a Clerke or GM barrel? It does not specify on the gun or the manual i downloaded from Knight.

Thanks

Scott

PM Flounder, he checked into the barrel thing with Tony Knight and has some first hand information....

I am not positive but I would guess a green mountain barrel on that lk-93. It is an early model, but for sure you do know it is a 93 or newer.
How many grooves are there? Could you post a picture of the crown?

I will post some pics tonite. Im at work right now. The crown appears to be nice and slightly more recessed than my Pedersoli. I didnt count the grooves lastnite.

Its in awesome condition though and very bright.

I have the Serial# if that helps.

1756xx

I have the patent # here too.

It just says Made in USA on the barrel and the FPJ plug appears to be the smaller of the 2 available. The hammer assembly seems to have a rather sharp 209 striker.

After i see how well it shoots, i will likely be looking for someone to install a Lehigh liner. The flash hole is .035+ and im betting the Lehigh vent liner mod will reduce blowby enough for most 80-100gr loads.

Thats my standard pre-measured load i take to the range so i prefer to stick with it.

Thank you Flounder

I have a LK93 .50 Cal. and have been in touch with Knight several times over the past few weeks and have been told that it is safe to shoot 120 grains of any Black Powder or powder subsitute.

Yes but Western has their own opinion based on the type of breach plug and action. More care must be taken with plunger type actions vs enclosed actions.

It may be safe but blowby could be very heavy with the .035+ flash hole in the LK93 FPJ conversion. The primer is only enclosed by the FPJ AND has the possibility of re cocking the hammer assembly.

As with any load data you go by the powder manufacturers suggested loads in the guns they suggest it to be used in. ;)

At least to start with and work up slowly.
