What is the difference between a T/C Omega and a T/C omega Z5?
Moose1

OMEGA? Z5 WITH WEATHER SHIELD or blued barrel only

OMEGA blued barrel or STAINLESS barrel

so it the same quality of barrel!
Ever heard of a Tradition Ligntning 209 bolt action?

Omega and Omega Z5

Basically the only differences are cosmetic. Omega and Z5 barrels are the same except Omega can come with a stainless barrel while a Z5 cannot. Z5 stocks are of less quality (IMO) than the Omega. They both shoots real well with the proper load. Omega is usually more expensive then the Z5 also. Both have the same TC guarantee.

Omegas

I have a stls. Omega purchased when they first came out. At some point along the way TC changed from a welded action hanger/recoil lug on the rear to a dovetailed set screw lug.On mine, only the front lug is dovetailed.I havn't seen one but I guess all the Omegas now use dovetailed lugs front and rear.

I have an early stainless Omega also. The front lug on mine came loose after about 60 shots and would not tighten up. I am working on shortening the screw that is supposed to keep it tight and the action really needs to be bedded as it is the tupper ware (flimsy) plastic stock. Personally I would not buy another with the plastic stock. Actually have so many other rifles I like better it just got put back in the safe for correction when I have nothing left to do.

The Z5 trigger assy is cast & not machined. It cannot be taken apart also the ws barrel is stronger than the stainless barrel which is also true for the blued barrel. Regular steel is stronger than stainless.
Z5 like all TC's carries a lifetime warranty.

The older ones also had a nice stainless trigger guard insted of that crap painted one they put on it now.

The Z5 thumbhole camo is $400 and the Omega thumbhole camo is $570. Our local Dicks was selling them last year for $250 Z5 & $400 Omega. Still kicking myself for not buying one.

If you work on them you will notice a difference. The Z5 was originally made for Walmart I believe, and is made a bit cheaper, there are some parts of the mechanism you can take apart on the regular Omega that are not made to be taken apart on th Z5.
But it is usually lower priced [I picked one up 4 years ago a a Walmart end of th season sale for 150 dollars. There certainly is nothing wrong with the way it shoots as it will handle several bullets and keep them it a minute of angle.
the one warning I would give you holds true for both.
The stock will not take being cranked down do NOT put more than 28 inch pounds of pressure on the screws that hold the barrel and action to the stock. I have been careful about that and my stock has not been bedded or reinforced in any way and it will shoot will any muzzleloader I have seen for group at 100yds. I have bought a Triumph and an Endeavor since but I still hang on to the old Omega its like pulling teeth for me to let go of a gun that shoots that good.
If it is going to be your main gun you might want to consider a laminated wood stock. Lee

How are the blowback from the Z5?I shoot T7 with max 100 gr.

If your referring to the residue that comes out of the breech and usually peppers the scope, NONE! Atleast I havent noticed any on my scope as of yet.

I get zero blowback from mine, it is a Z5 weathershield. Just a very light ring around the firing pin that wipes right off, but I also have a tight lockup with the win209 primers. The trigger is very nice, and with the right bullet/sabot combos I get near moa accuracy. The only thing I have wrong on mine is the scope mount holes were drilled a couple of degrees off of top dead center, but you have to be looking for it to notice.
