It's probably been discussed before but what is a 1in 66 twist good for round balls, conicals or sabots? Thanks

1-66 means you would need to have a 66 inch barrel for the projectile to make one complete revolution in the barrel. So this is a slow twist. Slow twist barrels shoot roundball. They normally do not shoot conicals very well. Some of them will shoot ball-et and some people claim they will shoot minie ball but I have yet to find that the case. Fast twist barrels like the 1-28 shoot sabots and conicals better.

I don't have a rifle with that twist but have read about them. What is said most often is you can drive a round ball pretty hard with that twist and still get good accuracy. Much better accuracy than a round ball out of a 1:48 twist barrel.

I have a .58 caliber with a 1-70 twist and have pushed it to 110 grains with no loss of accuracy out of it. That load would take anything I care to hunt.
