This is three shots at 100 yards that measured 7/8"... three Gold Sticks (150 grains), .451 300 grain Nosler PP in a Harvester short black, and a CCI 209m primer,,, shot with my TC Encore Endeavor.

Played a little today with the Ultimate Slam scope at two hundred yards but it was a too windy at that distance to really tell what was going on... I don't think the nine power setting is going to work with my load though. I'll get back out soon and do a little more testing...but I'm pretty tickled with the way everything shot today... :)

heck yeah! Im telling you, i dont think the rumors ive heard have been true. I went through an entire can of APP 2f and my accuracy only improved. The 300gr xtp's with the 150gr super sticks did awesome as well.

That is some good shooting... that kind of accuracy is hard to beat.

:D :!: :) :!: 8)

Been saying it for a long time now guys, APP GOLD is really good powder. :!: :!: :!:

I really like my Leupold US scope but you do have to "play" with it to get your aim points to work with different loads.

You can turn down the power to space out the aiming points more, but I prefer to shoot long range--200 yds for me with a ML--on 9X. To do that with my load, which is a 300 grn XTP and 110 grns of BH209, I sighted in with the cross hair about 2" high at 100. At 200 with a 3-9X US scope on 9X the second dot was dead on.

Have fun

Like sabotloader said - not even close.
And velocities shot to shot vary greater then most other powders.
Those aren't rumor's - they are facts reported by several who have
done extensive testing.

I thought I still had some ballstic information from my times of shooting Shockey Gold, but I can not find it right now. Because of the velocity difference in any of APP powders - it will not compare to a like load of T7. I would think you will have to back down from 9x to the two 'Dot' mark (2 pellet) to come in very close.

but as you know shooting will tell...

I don't have a speed-o-meter but in one of the last issues of Black Powder Guns & Hunting they tested several powders using a TC Endeavor and a 250 grain bullet.

one JSG 150 grain Super Stick= 1954 fps

two 777 Magnum pellets= 1945 fps

100 grains of BH209= 1925 fps

All in all JSG may be a little slower than 777 and slower even more than BH209 but I really like my over all dealings better with this powder than anything else.

Less powerfull??? Maybe? But I can tell you this... it shoots as good as any powder out there, cleans up in about half the time (yes even you Mr. Blackhorn), I can load a second shot without swabbing, and I don't have to clean with stinky chemicals.

By the way, it's plenty powerfull enough to kill anything walking this planet... 8)

If you like APP you would love the blackmag 8) 8)

This is the first time I have heard anyone say anything good about the powder that Shockey endorses.

I use it too. Its really good clean powder, and accurate. I still have a bunch of it to shoot in my rifles, just have to find the time to do so and just sit down at the range for a full day and give it hell. My Accura really likes the 150gr super sticks they have.

Might want to look at these numbers published in a past issue of American Rifleman.

When I shot APP and Shockey across my chrono - I have to tell you they were pretty close to what is published...

There appears to be a significant difference even between APP and Pyro..

Take a look at the 'Standard Deviation' in the velocity area

I like APP and APP GOLD. Doesn't matter if it isn't traveling as fast as T7 or Prodex or any other powder out there. What matters to me is having fun shooting and or hunting. For me I found this powder easy to work with. It burns clean. Lets me load without swabbing after each shot and lets me load with out breaking a sweat trying to seat the second bullet. It cleans with water, no solvents and my groups are usually cutting each other at 50 and within a 3"circle at 100. I get no crud/burn ring with it at all.
So my bullet gets there a little slower, sure didn't matter to the deer I put in my freezer this past season how fast the bullet was traveling or what the velocity was. I don't think that their is a critter out there that couldn't bring down by using this powder :!: :!: :!:

9 shots today with my accura and some new minies and never once had to think about swabbing.

I noticed that data used the old stuff APP had. APP person told me that the 2 pellets and 3 pellets shot slow and thats why they went with the Super Stick as it burned better and produced better #'s from shot to shot.

FPS doesnt really mean anything to me either. Accuracy is my main goal, Along with getting away from the crud ring crap.

My Apex likes it for the price and it does clean up very easy. The graph shows why too. Its fairly low pressure and that is probably why the breach area and primer pocket stay so much cleaner than Pyro or T7.

I usually use only 90-100gr JSG 3FG and a 240r or 250gr in a sabot. Soft shooting and accuracy isnt that bad.

I gave the 2FG to my buddy and he loves it in my old ThunderHawk 54.

sabotloader, what you put up there, is kinda what I heard from others. Inconsistancy. But, if you are satisfied with the results, more power to you.

Used JSG with good effect for a few years: Will go back to JSG now that Goex Pinnacle is no longer available. Would like to use Black Mag 3 but it is not really available either.

JSG is a very good and consistent powder when used right. Problem is that folks do not use it right. JSG needs a tight fitting sabot seated very hard on the powder. Lean on the ramrod until you feel it crunch. JSG 3F gives muzzle velocities that are right at 100 fps faster with any given bullet than 2F.

Yep, JSG is not as powerful as 777. So what? After firing 30 rounds with JSG the breechplug comes out easy. With JSG there is no awful crud ring and no need to swab between shots. Cleanup is much easier than with 777.

I might try a jug of it if I run across it somewhere. I used to defend Pyrodex but everything that comes within fifty miles of it will turn to rust.
