I have a ithaca model 37, love the gun but can't find rifled barrel for it., so i was looking at a new ithaca deer slayer 3, does any one of you guys have one , or shot one, is it as accurate as they say, or is ther a better slug gun to look at

My buddy has one of the early models which is heavier than the current model, 11lbs vs 9lbs, or somewhere in that area.

Very accurate! Longest kill with it was in the 225yd range. Not sure if they still have the video on their site that shows a guy shooting several groups with different slug brands at 200yds. My buddy had a neighbor at one time that owned a Tar Hunt, the DSIII was more accurate than his neighbors Tar Hunt. No idea if they all shoot as well as his DSIII or if he just got lucky, but when he pulls the trigger, your dragging.

My buddies has expensive tastes. Likes Rem. Accutips, Rem Core Lokts, Win Partition Golds. SST's and Lightfields did not shoot as well.

If you drive a lot you might want to look at something else. For stand hunting his is the berries if you don't mind the weight, it is heavy.

Save yourself alot of time, energy, money and frustration. Just buy a Savage 220.

Ithaca Firearms sells 12 and 20 rifled barrels as long as serial # is above 855,000. They can retro-fit earlier barrels. Also, Gunbroker lists barrels quite often.
