I do not own a 10ML but must admit have thought about it.My concern is the lack of a third stock bolt to hold barreled action in place when the bolt is removed. I realize that there are 3rd bolt mods out there(at additional expense). Do most of you Savage owners get this mod or is it not that big of an issue? Just seems like arrogance on the part of Savage not to fix this.

Mine has been bedded and the third pillar installed. Would I do it again? Absolutely!!! Some have not seen the need for the third pillar once the gun was bedded as it should return to the same position in a well done bedding job. If you don't do either then a torque wrench is what I would consider a must have to return the stress in the action to the same each time.

Two of my three MLIIs have the third pillar. I like it but the other shoots well without it. It is bedded however also. Just more convenient but not an absolute necessity IMHO.

I don't have the 3rd pillar on either of my ML II's. I justify this by knight only having one on all their guns that I have owned. Disc, T-bolt, Wolverine, Mk 85 and a bighorn. They all shoot just fine. I have marked the trigger guard and trigger guard screw so it comes back to the exact spot every time on my savages but I don't even think this is really nessesary, just something I do

RB did mine and I love it. I agree with Minst, I would do it again without hesitation.

This is what I do also and it works just fine for me too.

Bedding is very important and without it the third pillar is extremely helpful. If it is well-bedded, the third pillar is much less important. Mine returns to zero quite well after bolt removal and replacement without the third pillar since I bedded it.

I have two and have never needed to make the mod on either one. I just use the proper tool to get the breech plug out without having to remove or loosen an action screw or remove the bolt.

The kind of gun owner I am is if a rifle shoots well I WILL NEVER EVER part with it EVER, EVER. So spending $50 to get a third action screw installed and $100 to get it glass bedded seamed a cheap investmeant in the extream.

And considering how well my 10ML-II shoots, one would have to be in my Will to get it, and then only maybe.
