My test model arrived today while I was out shooting the Rem.

First remember that this is my first experiance with a NFPJ lehigh or knight. I really do prefer the FPJ - so this was all new to me.

The breech plug looks some what like the FPJ - it has a concave end with a removable vent liner installed. This breech plug will not work with a Knight primer adapter the pocket in the Knight holder is not quite deep enough. So you do need to install the Lehigh primer adapter.

Speaking of the adapter there are some difference in construction there also. If you look at the picture you can see one of the difference in that the exposed wall of the adapter has more metal and will close the gas port when the bolt is rotated down. This gas port is where the hot gas was coming from that burned the bottom of your scope.

Once the system is installed and the bolt is closed it seems to be a bit tighter than the Knight system.

When you INSERT IGNORE a primer and close the bolt you can feel the primer being pushed snugly into the the tapered wall of the breech plug. It is a snug fit and should provide a decent gas seal.

Extracting an unfired primer from the plug does require more than a little finger pull on the bolt to extract the un-shot primer.

It is not caliber specific - so it should work just fine for you... I know Tom has finished his testing - I think there are 3 or 4 more of us that just recieved the conversion and soon as we complete I think lehigh will put them on the WEB site. Lehigh Dave is @ the SHOT show now so not much is happening...

sabotloader, how hard is it to prime? I mean can you get to it fairly easy you think with gloves on?,

A tight fit on the primer wont be an issue for me. Im going to use open sites so using a tool to remove them wont be an issue for me.

I want a tight seal and if using a "de capper" is needed...im cool with that. IMO a well sealed primer will be a huge benefit for ME.

Thanks again and im 100% sure i want this conversion kit.

To be perfectly honest with you - that is exactly why I do not use the NFPJ. Yo need to handle the 209 in your fingers and drop it in the slot... if you get that done it closes very easy - it extracts and you tip it out.

It is fine at the range but in the weather i hunt in I do not want to deal with it. The FPJ's are not bad because they are physically larger and can be handled with gloves....

But, in fairness I suppose if you shoot them enough you will find a way to get the job done.

There is a plan in the works to possibly develope a FPJ sealed breech system also and I wonder why Knight did not go that way in the first place... pretty easy.

With this conversion or even the Knight conversion the primer holder extracts the spent primer for you no tool needed. There are times that the spent primer can get stuck and it take a rap on the bilt handle to extract it.

I just recieved the non FPJ conversion for my 50 cal Disk Extreme. Even though it's supposed to work fine with bh209 the sight of the domed end still has me doubting how well it will work.

I would also like to purchase the Lehigh conversion as soon as it becomes available. The reduction in scope burn is a nice added bonus.

I like bh209 so much that I even have a Mag Spark conversion for my side hammer Renegade that I will be testing the next time I get to the range. It will be nice to get rid of the swabbing and reduce the clean up on that one too.

Thanks sabotloader, and yes i know what you mean about the NFPJ. Infact thats why i like the older style Orange Primer holders over the newer Red style primer holders. My fingers are stiff and the older style is much easier on me.I like really the looks of this conversion.I might get one just to have in case my finers ever free up.LOL
As i understand it tho,one will need the newer style/EXTREME conversion bolt.to built this conversion on,Right?

Yes, I beleive that is correct so that new primer adapter will fit in the bolt...

There is on in the classifieds right now for $45 - I think that was the price...
