I own three Whites. Two model 97's and a G series Bison. All of them are excellent shooters. My little short barrel Bison is a great walking around rifle. Quick to point, and hard hitting. I shoot 80 grains of Triple Seven 2f and a 500 grain Bull Shop conical with a #11 cap ignition. I would bet I can knock almost any animal down with that kind of load. My shots are close, so this makes a good tree rifle also.

Busta, Whitetail & Cayuga

thanks for the info. I believe these are all good rifles and were made for Black Powder only and probably wouldn't work to well with BH209, if at all.

How many of them had the 209 primer as opposed to the #11 percussion cap?

Whitetail,
was the S91 .410 a side cock or rear plunger and what load was you using to get those tight 3/4"groups?

Pocampo

The S91 is a rear plunger type of action. The load I uased was 70gr T7 fffg and a 325 grain conical. That load is incredible.

whitetail,

that load sounds comparable to the old 45/70 which I personally like. I will have to start looking and comparing the different models of White rifles and then try to find a one hole shooter

Pocampo, you will find White ML's shoot well with most powders today. A lot of us use 70gr of Swiss 3F. Doc White still loves Pryodex P using anywhere from 80-100 grs. My favorite load depending on which rifle I shot was either 80 or 90grs of Pryodex P.

So come on over to DWB's and shoot away with some questions, you'll get all kinds of answers. But check out the Add's first and buy one, or ask if anyone has one they want to sell. Some of us might just feel sorry for ya and sell ya one. Maybe

That sounds like an invitation too good to pass up. See ya back at the ranch

Nobody warned this guy that without a translator you may not have any idea what is going on. I am still working on some of the messages. Sort of reminds me of looking at complicated vanity plates on cars trying to figure out what it says. Great site however; I manage to hit it at least once a day and usually more than that. Really dissapointed when nothing shows up as "Today".

Things have been pretty slow lately, with more BS than substance (not that that situation is particularly unusual  ). Most of us already know everything so we can't tell each other much.

Keith, ah hazunt a klu whut u iz tawkin bout.

"Whoa Nelly" I took a ride around the neighborhood and me and "Ole Trusty"was almost thrown from the saddle  I couldn't read the road signs at ALL and had a difficult time going around the curves  I guess I may have to hire a driver like Miss Daisy  until I can find my way around town :?

I got into muzzleloading back in 1993 with a .54 Renegade and still have it(pre QLA). I have owned the Cherokee, FireHawk, System 1, and Encore. After I bought my first White the .451 Super 91, I now own four Whites in .410, .451, 504 and .12 ga. the rest of the T/C's are gone now. The Whites have found a home!!

Steve,
why do you prefer the White's over all the others? Also how accurate is the .451 and with what load?

Pocampo

In my .451 I use a 480 gr Bullshop conical and 75 gr T73Fg= 1/2" groups at 100 yds.

The Whites are just plain more accurate than any muzzleloader I have owned/shot. One hole groups 25-50 yds are unheard of using a lead conical, and the smack they make on a deer is worth the price. The deer just drop in their tracks or in the case of the .451 don't go over 25 yds. (that was with a 460 powerpunch) haven't shot one yet with the 480 BS, maybe this week if I can stand the cold..

Oh, the Whites are hands down much user friendly and simple to clean, especially with the teflon finish. 8)

Only drawback is the blowback in the open breech, but I can live with that. The #11 caps are all you need for ignition and no crud ring, just load and shoot, load and shoot.

Once you find one, we can offer many tips and advise on what works best. I almost waited too long myself, got my .451 in 2006 and the last one, .410 Whitetail last March.

If I recall,,,,your .504 don't shoot to shabby neither... 8)

I own a couple .504s....cos the .451s are fer sissys....

I actually gave one of my Super 91s to a friend of mine. He makes custom longbows....

And no UC,,,it wasn't "that" one.... 8)

Oh, yeah I did kill a wild turkey hen with the .504 last month. Then I missed two does (afraid it was operator error) not the guns fault...

Toytruck,

Steve, that is some mighty salty groups. I'll bet when that big meplat bullet hits home you can hear it for a long ways. Sounds like you are setup for now on the White rifle front.

Batchief909,

I think the Big .504 has the advantage for laying down the smack and for a much better selection of loading components. At 100yds accuracy is probably the same. The .451 would shine at long range with the right bullets accuracy wise. So I guess a guy just needs to own both as most White owners do it seems.

I would like to find a T-Bolt or a M-97 U Mag in a .451 or a .504....The chances may be slim and none, but I will keep trying.

pocampo

U-mag was only made in .504 and most of them take a .5045 bullet nicely. They will also shoot sabot loads very well.

Underclocked,

thanks for bringing that to my attention UC as I was not aware of that. I'm finding out New info all the time and there is a lot to remember as there is so many models out there.

Would it be possible to make up a chart and post it on DWB's and MML that lists the different models, variations, cal's available, barrel lengths, finish, available stock options & years of mfg. as well as ignition systems and such with photos, now your talking!

Sort of a go to reference for all members. You and a lot of other knowledgeable White owners no this forward and backward but the Newbies and forgetful folk like me don't.
