I've never seen one quite like that, give us a range report after you try it out in the sunlight. Might give one a try on my whitetail. Thats a nice rifle ya got there. 8)

Whitetail,
I really like that rear sight. What kind is it and where did you get it? Also what model White's do you have that mounted on? t appears it is mounted in the back holes for the scope base. How far is it away from your eye appx and what does the front sight look like when pictured through the aperture?

pocampo,
That is a new Williams Fire Site Ghost Ring. It slides on the WGRS base replacing the Aperture slide. I purchased it through Williams on line for $10.00 buck's.

I have it mounted on a White Model 2000 Blacktail Hunter. The rifle is essentially a M97 Whitetail Hunter with a Teflon coating over the Stainless and a Delron ram rod instead of the solid Alluminum the Whitail Hunter comes with.

You are correct it is mounted on the rear scope base holes, the site picture is a red dot (front site is a fiber optic red) inside of the PEEP with the green dots giving a more exact vertical positionong that is picked up extremely fast, well at least for me. The aperture is distanced I guess around 8" from my eye when the rifle is shouldered. I have not shot with this Ghost ring however I do use the Williams WGRS with the Buckbuster or twilight aperture's mounted in the same position on most of my Whites now.

I will try to set up a picture of the site picture for you and post it later.

pocampo,
here is my best effort for tonight. I could not get both focused for some reason. Anyway gives an idea of the site picture.

That last photo is a pretty good representation of my site picture these days. Thats why everything is scoped. Sure do miss open sights
I sure do like the way those Williams' look.

Whitetail,

I think that photo is excellent. It is impossible to have the front sight and back sight in focus at the same time. As you know you are supposed to focus on the front sight and the target and your eye will take care of the fuzzy rear aperture automatically. It is supposed to look just like you have it focused, sharp on the front and fuzzy on the back. Very good example!

Did you have the camera sitting where your eye would be? If so that is a very good set of iron sights for hunting and I would consider a set to go on one of my rifles like a "White" .504 deer shooter if I had one.

The trouble is most guns are not drilled and tapped for peep sights and even if they are they are positioned too far forward.

Guys just don't realize how accurate a good peep sight can be, especially good for the range at which most deer are taken.

Is their a part # for the WGRS base and the Fire Site Ghost Ring. Did you get the WGRS from Williams on line also? How much for the unit $$

pocampo,
No I had the camera up closer to the site than I would be shouldered. You are correct the rear site for me is a little fuzzy but not as much as in the pic.

Yes I bought both from the Williams online site.

The WGRS comes with a buckbuster aperture in it. The part number is.
The Fire Site Ghost Ring is there also.
Click WGRS and then scroll to the bottom of the age you will find both of theses.

WGRS #51097 WGRS Whitetail $37.95

Firesite Ghost Ring # 70919 $9.95

Sights came in today! I wasted no time ripping that scope off and finding all the screws/washers that the Accura needed.

My first impression when i saw the front sight was. Holy shblep!! The sucker is MASSIVE. The length is just under 1 - 3/8" and 7/8" tall and the width that is towards your eye is 7/8" wide. As usual, one of the fiber optics isnt center with the other but thats no big deal as i normally black out the rear fiber optics.

On the Accura, these sights come into view right away without having to adjust your head to get the sight picture into view. Its just RIGHT THERE.

I really do like this set up so far. im getting ready to sight it in with the 390gr PR conicals @ 20 yards and make adjustments.

one thing i can say about them is they are bright when outside!! sure wish my eyes could pic up opens still they were sweet. enjoy them and give us a report.

Beautiful sight picture! I took 2 shots @25 and adjusted it down, took the target out to 50 and on my last shot, i nailed the bulls eye 2" high. That should put me close to dead on @ 100 yards with 100gr APP and the 390gr PR conical.

Again, the American Pioneer 2f was super clean and i never swabbed the bore. 6 shots today in about 15 minutes.
