looking for something that has all the modern necessities and a fair price. Not the cheapest but not the top of the line either. Best gun for the money lets put it that way. Thanks fellas

Welcome to the forum. Good to have you here. Depending on the brand, you will get a number of different answers. I suggest you go to a sporting goods store and handle some of them. Look at the Triumph, Accura, Omega, Optima, and some Knight rifles if they have some.

Also look at some of the auction sites. You can often pick up a good rifle for a good price on them.

If Cabela's still has the ss/black Accura for 289, I can think of no better buy for the money.

Ugh this again.... Cant we just turn one of these into a sticky?

No doubt the Accura and Apex, BPI products are good guns especially as compared to what they use to be.

But I guess I am really getting old because I think with the closing of White Rifles - Knight Rifles and other American companies trying to compete in America with American products - I really do look at these days....

Even now knowing that one of the people that I think is square on point and singing the praises of the BPI products - I still would buy an Omega or an Triumph first - i have them both and they are very good guns.

Do Shoulder it and when you find one that feels right ask about cleaning, trigger pull and blowback and so forth. Lee

I did exactly what Lee 9 noted, went to every shop in the local area, compared prices, shouldered different models, asked questions, etc.

Before this I looked at all the models Cabela's had for sale.

I ended up getting a Thompson Omega and am very happy with it.

Cabela's has the Omega (black/blue) currently for under $300.

Good luck.

I think Triumph. If you said it also needs to look good, I'd recommend something else.

TC omega i think that thier is a rebate on TC guns right now i think it still on .

But you got to get what you like and you need to handle a fews guns to see what you like the feel of.

hope this help

My Omega has exceded all my expectations,I will recommend them to anyone.
First shot cold clean barrel, dead on to 175 yds every time. The only variable is me.

If you start lookiung around you will start finding some on clearenace. I got my Omega at wal-mart for $98 a few yrs ago!

Handle em if you can. Pick one out and then watch Cabelas Bargain Cave. They have some killer deals sometimes. I picked up a TC Triumph for $249.00. They had a CVA Kodiak camo stainless for $249.00. Got some deals also on Accuras. And if for any reason you dont like it Cabelas will take it back no questions asked. Good luck.

How can anything be more ugly than a thumbhole Accura.

thumbhole accura is a fine looking rifle. Maybe if i glue some rubber onto the stock, you bone collector guys might like it better ;) Oh and paint the barrel silver.

Yea your right... Thats why i have the blue-black Triumph. The rubber and siver paint aint worth an extra $250.00. Anyway I think all thumbhole stocks are butt ugly. You never saw John Wayne with a thumbhole Winchester.
